Badshah Social
Abhishek Sharma’s Flatbush Avenue room near Barclays: reimagined Indian street food, open tandoors, cocktails, and shareable plates for a Brooklyn night out.
Park Slope · 212 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Overview
Badshah Social opened July 7, 2026, at 212 Flatbush Avenue at Dean Street in Park Slope, a few minutes from Barclays Center. Chef-owner Abhishek Sharma grew up in Flushing in a restaurant family whose New York lineage includes Surya in the West Village; his own map includes Swagat NYC, MadamJi, A13 Events, and an earlier Hell’s Kitchen Badshah. The house bills the Brooklyn room as reimagined Indian street food with cocktails. Badshah means king; the dining room mixes royal imagery with portraits of The Notorious B.I.G.
Before opening, Sharma spent about six months traveling Indian markets and street kitchens (press cites Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gujarat, Punjab, and the south). An open kitchen keeps the tandoors in view. This is the desk’s Brooklyn social pick: polished enough for a full dinner, casual enough for drinks and shared plates, and deliberately multi-regional rather than a single-state concept like Kidilum’s Kerala focus.
What diners say
Major scored critic visits were still thin at desk write-up; The Infatuation logged the opening without a full rating and flagged crispy spinach chaat, Amritsari fish with housemade tartar, and lamb shank nihari as early menu markers. Opening coverage from Patch and BroadwayWorld lists pani puri, Old Delhi chicken tikka, Lahori seekh kebab, Kerala-style mutton irachi, Mangalorean branzino with curry leaf oil, Guntur chili chicken bao, coconut fried chicken, paneer and fig tikki, and lamb shank nihari. Treat named plates as seasonal examples.
The Knockturnal’s late-July 2026 first-impression visit praised traditional pani puri, mild paneer and fig tikki, well-executed butter chicken, and especially Hyderabadi dum biryani (meat marinated about 24 hours, sealed-pot dum; the kitchen was moving toward reservation-only for that dish). Cocktails and Motichoor Ladoo ice cream round out the social-night pitch. Public chatter so far tracks Resy bookings, shareable spreads, and a room built for groups near Barclays rather than a quiet two-top.
What to know
- Book on Resy via badshahny.com. Useful before Barclays events and weekend dinner.
- First-timer stack from early coverage: pani puri; paneer and fig tikki or coconut fried chicken; Hyderabadi dum biryani if available (may need advance notice); lamb shank nihari or a tandoor plate; one spice-market cocktail.
- Open kitchen and shareable menu. Good for groups; less ideal if you want a hushed Italian-style date room.
- Vegetarian options include chaat, paneer tikki, saag paneer, and breads; the critic conversation still leans meat and seafood for the larger plates.
- Sibling context: Sharma’s Swagat (Upper West Side) and MadamJi (West Village), plus A13 Events. Badshah Social is the Brooklyn street-and-social chapter.
- Phone often listed: (347) 987-3010. Confirm hours and the current menu on the restaurant site.
- Price is $$: Brooklyn special-occasion casual, below Hudson Yards tasting checks and above corridor thali math.
- Opening desk coverage lives in Sources below (our Badshah Social news brief). This page is orientation from published sources, not a Tadka Table tasting visit.
