Aaha Truly South
Pure vegetarian South Indian tiffin brand for idli, dosa, pesarattu, and filter coffee, with Scarborough, downtown Dundas West, and Oshawa rooms.
Scarborough (Brimley) · 1177 Brimley Rd, Scarborough, ON M1P 3G5
Overview
Aaha Truly South runs a focused vegetarian South Indian breakfast-and-tiffin card: idli, vada, dosa, pesarattu, pongal, punugulu, mirchi bajji, and filter coffee rather than a broad North-and-South buffet. The Scarborough room at 1177 Brimley Road is the east-end base near Scarborough Town Centre; 250 Dundas Street West covers downtown; 1180 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa opened August 13, 2026 for Durham diners. This desk page uses Scarborough as the primary GTA orientation stop.
The brand’s value is consistency across rooms: fermented batter, ghee, podi, sambar, chutney, and coffee as a daily habit, not a single cult dish. Dine-in, takeaway, delivery, and catering all appear on the house site.
Come before noon for the clearest breakfast read, or for an easy vegetarian family dinner. Compare with Udupi Palace on Gerrard when you want a Bazaar walk instead of a Brimley parking-lot stop.
What diners say
Our Oshawa opening brief and the house menus emphasize the same first orders: soft idli with sambar and chutney, mini ghee podi idli, vada that keeps a crisp edge, plain or masala dosa, gunpowder and Mysore masala variants, and MLA-style pesarattu with upma. Scarborough diner write-ups repeatedly praise filter coffee, ghee roast dosa, and attentive floor staff.
Delivery feedback is more mixed than dine-in praise: some orders land with softer idli or milder vada than expected, which is a reminder to judge batter and fry work in the room when you can. A minority of diners flag sweetness on certain dosa preparations; say so if you want a drier, more savory plate.
Treat Aaha as a reliable vegetarian tiffin destination, not special-occasion fine dining. Confirm hours by location; Scarborough, downtown, and Oshawa schedules differ, and Oshawa hours were still settling after launch.
