A Hotel Chain Is Building a Mithai Brand, Not Just a Lobby Sweet Counter

Meetha by Radisson turns hotel mithai into multi-store retail with fusion SKUs, designed boxes, and a 2026 Times Food Awards win in Mumbai.

A hotel group is treating mithai like a retail brand, not a lobby afterthought.

Meetha by Radisson is Radisson Hotel Group’s premium Indian sweets line: traditional pieces alongside hotel-bakery hybrids such as Motichoor Cheesecake and Biscoff Kalakand, sold from dedicated counters and street-facing shops rather than only from a pastry case inside the lobby. The concept was developed by corporate chef Rakesh Sethi and launched in Delhi-NCR around 2020, then expanded into Mumbai. In 2026 the brand took Best Mithai Premium Dining, Mumbai at the Times Food & Nightlife Awards, a recognition that tracks how far the format has moved beyond festival takeaway boxes alone.

The Mumbai story is logistics as much as packaging. The Balwa Group, which owns Radisson Mumbai Goregaon, runs the western circuit from a large central kitchen near the hotel after a smaller on-property kitchen could not keep up with festival spikes. Soul of Hospitality’s October 2025 feature put four Mumbai stores under that group, with more city addresses in the pipeline, and described an all-women team at the Goregaon flagship. Online orders via delivery apps sit beside walk-in gifting; vegan and sugar-free options share the case with classic peda and ladoo.

The category move is the point. Neighborhood halwais still carry most of India’s everyday mithai. Meetha is the hospitality industry’s answer to premiumisation: hygiene talk, designed boxes, fusion SKUs, and a hotel P&L that wants F&B revenue beyond rooms and restaurants. That is closer to how packaged spice and achaar brands argue for shelf space than to a single sweet shop opening. It is also why the awards language now says “premium dining” for a mithai counter.

Confirm current Mumbai and Delhi-NCR shop addresses and menus on meethamumbai.com or the relevant Radisson property page before you treat any one store list as fixed. This is brand and category reporting, not a tasting review of the case.
