Chicago’s Michelin-Starred Indienne Just Opened a Hudson Yards Chapter
Sujan Sarkar’s nine-course tasting room lands at Henry Hall on West 38th, extending the River North star that made Indienne Chicago’s only Michelin Indian kitchen.

Chef Sujan Sarkar opened Indienne New York on May 28, 2026, on the second floor of Henry Hall at 515 West 38th Street, where Hudson Yards meets Hell’s Kitchen. Eater NY and Dining Out both put that date and address on the record; the restaurant site lists Tuesday through Saturday evenings, Sunday and Monday closed, with reservations through SevenRooms. It is a 34-seat tasting-menu room with an open kitchen, the first of three Sarkar projects planned for the building. Cocktail bar Apas and British-Indian chophouse Elder are still to follow later in the year.
The New York chapter extends Chicago’s Indienne, which opened in River North in September 2022 and earned a Michelin star in 2023. That Chicago kitchen remains the city’s only starred Indian restaurant in recent coverage. Sarkar spent more than a decade in modern European and French kitchens in London and San Francisco before returning to India to study Indian cooking more closely; he resists calling the food fusion, telling The Hindu that technique and plating may borrow from European fine dining while the flavour stays Indian. New Yorkers may remember him from Baar Baar, the East Village modern Indian gastrobar he opened in 2017, before the wider ABV Hospitality map across Chicago and other cities.
Eater NY reports three nine-course tasting menus for May: meats and fish at $195, vegetarian and vegan at $175, with wine pairings around $125. Early menu notes include chickpea dhokla, oyster pani puri with passionfruit and cucumber, scallop with ramp and corn raab, lamb shammi kebab, and desserts such as mango ghewar. The Hindu’s June feature describes a nine-course book drawn from more than a hundred dishes tested in Chicago, plus Holi-inspired paintings by Chicago artist Ken Andjulis connecting the rooms. Designer Mapa Mueller shaped the New York space as a sequence of rooms, from a golden ochre foyer to a burgundy-leather main dining room.
